Boric Acid is used to control and prevent tear stains. Boric Acid has anti-microbial properties, as well as mild beaching properties (as do many weak organic acids), but its main contribution to the prevention of tear stain may be its ability to stabilize pophyrins present in the tears, slaliva and urine. The use of boric acid for tear stains is only to be halted once the show career of an animal has been completed.
Wash the stained area well, either with shampoo or with Wampum self rinse shampoo. Take pinches of Wampum fine boric acid powder between your fingers and rub this into the wet stained hair. Dry off (long coats) or let dry naturally (short coats). Repeat Daily. |
